The BIM-01-2 OBD-II (J1850/CAN) Interface is engineered to seamlessly connect to your vehicle’s diagnostic port, allowing for the extraction of crucial engine and transmission data directly from the car’s computer, known as the ECM (Engine Control Module). This sophisticated Interface Obd2 device is designed to gather and transmit vital vehicle information to Dakota Digital Instrument Systems*, enhancing your dashboard with comprehensive real-time data.
On a wide array of vehicles, the interface OBD2 BIM-01-2 can provide the following essential readings***:
- Speedometer
- Tachometer
- Engine Temperature
- Check Engine Indicator
Furthermore, depending on your specific vehicle’s ECM and sensor configuration, this interface OBD2 may also deliver vehicle-specific data, including****:
- Intake Air Temperature
- Transmission Temperature
- Ambient Air Temperature
- Gear Position
- Oil Pressure
- Boost Pressure
It’s important to acknowledge that the availability and accuracy of certain data points such as Intake Temp, Transmission Temp, Ambient Air Temp, Oil Pressure, Boost, and Gear Position are contingent on the ECM’s capabilities and the presence of functional OEM sensors. Dakota Digital cannot guarantee the consistent availability or precision of these parameters across all vehicle applications due to the variability in factory and aftermarket ECM configurations.
*The BIM-01-2 interface OBD2 is specifically developed to decode data transmitted by the ECM via OBD-II protocols and relay this information to GRFX, RTX, HDX, VHX, and VFD3 systems that utilize a black plastic control module. For compatibility with BIM-ready control boxes equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack BIM input, the 394194 adaptor harness is required. Please note that earlier instrument systems featuring an aluminum control module do not support BIM connectivity.
**This interface OBD2, BIM-01-2, is compatible with J1850 and CAN OBD-II protocols exclusively. It supports OBD-II protocols SAE J1850 VPW, SAE J1850 PWM, and ISO 15765 CAN 500k 11-bit identifiers adhering to the SAE J1979 PID protocol.
For users uncertain about their vehicle’s compatibility with this interface OBD2, we strongly recommend contacting our sales or technical support department for clarification before purchase.
****Please be aware that GM Connect & Cruise packages typically do not transmit gear position data, which may prevent the BIM-01-2 interface OBD2 from acquiring and displaying this specific information.
