Globally Focused Powertrain Options and Historic Production

The 2023 BMW 7 Series is conceived from the ground up to cater to discerning clientele in a global market. This is evident in its market-specific powertrain portfolio, including offerings tailored for China, a key sales region for BMW, and diesel models for the European market. This new generation luxury sedan redefines spaciousness, available exclusively as a long-wheelbase model worldwide, maximizing rear passenger space. The distinctive character of each 2023 BMW 7 Series model is shaped by specific design elements and powertrain variants, including models from BMW i and BMW M. This range showcases a spectrum of characteristics, from elegant and sustainable to expressive and dynamic.

For the first time, the 2023 BMW 7 Series presents a choice of combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems, and all-electric powertrains. This powertrain diversity is enabled by a newly developed flexible vehicle architecture, reflecting a global model strategy. This approach allows the BMW Group to accommodate diverse customer needs, infrastructure considerations, and regulatory landscapes across global automotive markets. The European market launch will initially feature the BMW i7. In the USA, China, and other select regions, two petrol engine models with 48V mild-hybrid technology will be offered alongside the all-electric variant at launch.

Plug-in hybrid versions of the 2023 BMW 7 Series are slated for introduction in numerous markets starting in early 2023. These will include the first BMW M model with a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine and plug-in hybrid drive. A diesel engine variant with 48V mild-hybrid technology will join the European lineup shortly after the initial market launch. Further all-electric BMW i7 models, including the future top-tier BMW i7 M70 xDrive, are planned for release at a later date. Continuing a legacy, the 2023 BMW 7 Series will be produced at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. This historic facility, BMW’s largest European production center and a center of excellence for e-drive component manufacturing, will blend tradition with cutting-edge technology. The highly integrated electric drive system and high-voltage battery for the BMW i7 will also be manufactured at Dingolfing. The plant will efficiently produce vehicles with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems, and all-electric powertrains on the same production line, alongside models like the all-electric BMW iX, the BMW 8 Series, and BMW 5 Series.

BMW M Performance Enters the 2023 7 Series Range

The global 2023 BMW 7 Series model range will expand to include two BMW M models featuring electrified powertrains. The BMW M760e xDrive, launching in spring 2023, delivers 420 kW/571 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Its electric motor provides a temporary 30 kW/40 hp boost for exhilarating acceleration. M-specific exterior and interior design cues, including a distinctive twin tailpipe exhaust system, emphasize the performance character of this plug-in hybrid BMW M model. The future flagship, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, arriving later in 2023, will boast an all-electric powertrain with dual motors generating over 600 hp and more than 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. Projected to be the most powerful road-legal BMW ever, it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 4.0 seconds (performance figures are preliminary estimates based on current development).

Unparalleled Digital Experience with BMW iDrive 8

The driving dynamics, long-distance comfort, and overall user experience in the 2023 BMW 7 Series are significantly enhanced by the latest digital innovations. The 2023 BMW 7 Series introduces the new multi-sensory BMW iDrive vehicle experience, powered by BMW Operating System 8. Featuring the fully digital BMW Curved Display, the innovative BMW Interaction Bar, enhanced BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant capabilities, additional My Modes, the latest iteration of the BMW Head-Up Display, and the Augmented View function on the information display, the 2023 7 Series elevates intuitive driver-vehicle interaction to a new benchmark.

Rear passengers are treated to a unique entertainment experience with the new BMW Theatre Screen – a 31.3-inch 8K resolution panoramic display in 32:9 format that folds down from the roof, transforming the rear cabin into a private cinema. Front passengers can also enjoy YouTube video-on-demand streaming on the control display for the first time. A 5G-compatible antenna system ensures high-speed connectivity throughout the 2023 BMW 7 Series.

Enhanced Security: The 2023 BMW 7 Series Protection Vehicle

BMW is developing a high-security variant of the 2023 BMW 7 Series, slated for release in 2023. This armored model, featuring a unique integrated protection concept developed from the ground up, meets the stringent security demands of authorities, state officials, and high-profile individuals requiring specialized protection. The development of this high-security 2023 BMW 7 Series prioritizes an innovative protection concept engineered by the BMW Group. This concept delivers exceptional security standards without compromising the interior comfort, driving dynamics, and ride quality synonymous with the 2023 BMW 7 Series range. Integrated development and specialized production processes at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing will ensure the high-security 2023 BMW 7 Series sets new benchmarks in its class.
