The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is making waves as a high-performance compact car, bringing Acura’s Precision Crafted Performance philosophy to the forefront. Unveiled at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, this model reinterprets street performance for today’s driving enthusiasts.
Featuring a robust four-cylinder engine that delivers a class-leading 320 horsepower, the turbocharged Integra Type S honors Acura’s esteemed lineage of high-performance Integras and the celebrated Type S performance series. It comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC® engine, a class-exclusive 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, and a performance-tuned Adaptive Damper System as standard. Enhancing its dynamic capabilities are powerful Brembo® front brakes and lightweight 19-inch wheels fitted with high-performance summer tires.
As the fourth Acura Type S variant introduced in the past two years, the Integra Type S elevates the Integra’s design with a striking wide body, assertive center-mounted triple exhaust outlets, large front air intakes, a hood vent, and a rear diffuser—all signaling its high-performance nature.
“The new Acura Integra Type S positions turbocharged Type S performance and design as an entry point to our brand,” stated Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President, Acura National Sales. “Following the new Integra’s recognition as the 2023 North American Car of the Year™, the Integra Type S enhances its already impressive performance with significant improvements across all aspects of the driving experience, while maintaining interior sophistication and everyday usability.”
For those seeking further customization, the Integra Type S offers a range of Genuine Acura Accessories, including a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, carbon fiber mirror caps, a black illuminated front Acura badge, copper metallic 19-inch wheels, and a titanium shift knob inspired by the Integra Type R.
The 2024 Integra Type S is set to hit the market in June.
Bold Design and High-Performance Stance
The 2024 Acura Integra Type S boasts a significantly wider stance, 2.8 inches broader than the standard Integra. This increase is achieved through flared wide-body fenders and larger 19-inch wheels with 265/30 R19 tires, creating a more muscular appearance and enhanced road presence. Uniquely, the Integra Type S is the only model in the premium performance compact category to offer a versatile 5-door liftback design.
Every panel forward of the A-pillars is exclusive to the Type S model. The redesigned, more aggressive front fascia features a larger open-surface Diamond Pentagon grille and a new vented aluminum hood. This combination improves airflow by 170%, crucial for cooling the more powerful turbocharged engine. A widened lower opening directs air to the intercooler, supporting higher boost pressure and further boosting engine performance.
The rear fascia has been redesigned to incorporate three central exhaust outlets, a first for a Type S vehicle. A new gloss black diffuser and a decklid spoiler enhance downforce. Type S badges are strategically placed on the front grille, front fenders, and trunk lid to further distinguish this high-performance variant. Echoing the iconic 3rd generation model, “Integra” is once again embossed on both the front and rear fascias.
The Integra Type S is available in seven striking colors, including Tiger Eye Pearl, exclusive to the Type S. Interior color options include Red, Black, and Orchid.
Unrivaled Power and Driving Dynamics
The core of the 2024 Acura Integra Type S is its high-revving DOHC turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC® engine with direct injection. It features unique throttle tuning for rapid response and a 33% increase in displacement compared to the standard Integra’s 1.5-liter engine. Producing 320 horsepower (SAE net @ 6,500 rpm) and 310 lb.-ft. of torque (SAE net @ 2,600 to 4,000 rpm), the Type S model delivers a 120 hp and 118 lb.-ft. increase over the standard Integra, achieving class-leading power and a power-to-weight ratio of 10.1 pounds per horsepower.
A new high-flow exhaust system, exclusive to the Integra Type S, maximizes the potential of the award-winning 2.0-liter turbocharged (K20C) engine. Combined with specialized software tuning, this engine achieves its highest horsepower rating in North America and a class-leading specific output of 160 hp/liter.
The less restrictive exhaust design enhances the auditory driving experience with a distinctive Type S exhaust note. An active exhaust valve ensures a unique sound profile in each driving mode, with Sport+ mode amplifying the experience with noticeable “pops and bangs.”
Acura’s reputation for exceptional manual transmissions is upheld in the Integra Type S, which features the only manual transmission in its class—a precise, short-throw 6-speed with an automatic rev-matching system. A standard helical-type limited-slip differential (LSD) effectively channels the engine’s power to the road.
Advanced Chassis for Superior Handling
For optimal road holding and stability at high speeds, the Integra Type S incorporates an innovative dual-axis front suspension and significantly wider front and rear tracks (+3.5 inches in the front and +1.9 inches in the rear) compared to the standard Integra. The dual-axis system also minimizes torque steer, notably through a 0.75-inch reduction in steering axis offset. A thicker (+2 mm) 29.0 mm front stabilizer bar improves responsiveness.
The Integra Type S features a standard Adaptive Damper System (ADS) tuned specifically for this model. Managed through the Integrated Dynamics System (IDS), ADS provides distinct damping characteristics across Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ driving modes, offering precise control and optimized handling for various driving conditions.
Lightweight 19 x 9.5-inch Shark Gray alloy wheels, inspired by the NSX Type S with a new 10-spoke design, are larger yet 2 lbs lighter than the 18-inch Integra A-Spec wheels. These are paired with 265/30 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S high-performance summer tires.
Braking performance is exceptional, thanks to massive 13.8-inch two-piece front rotors (+1.5 inches larger than the standard Integra) and Brembo® 4-piston monobloc aluminum calipers. Larger 12.0-inch rear rotors (+0.9 inches) and functional front fascia ducts that enhance brake cooling further contribute to performance.
Premium Interior Designed for Performance
The Integra Type S interior focuses on the driver, featuring four-position seating, premium materials, and exclusive Type S performance accents. Heated front Sport seats with perforated Ultrasuede® inserts and enhanced bolsters provide superior support during dynamic driving. The steering wheel is wrapped in perforated leather with colored stitching, matching the Type S-specific shifter knob, which is dark anodized and topped with a red shift pattern.
A black Ultrasuede® shift boot with colored stitching continues the performance-oriented theme. Type S logos are featured on the steering wheel, shifter boot surround, and front seat headrests.
The Integra Type S also offers class-leading standard technology for everyday comfort, including a 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit™ Driver Information Interface, a 9-inch color touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, wireless phone charging, and a head-up display. A 16-speaker 530-watt ELS STUDIO 3D® premium audio system delivers an immersive, studio-quality sound experience.
Rear seat passengers benefit from class-leading legroom (37.4 inches), a result of the Integra’s long wheelbase. The class-exclusive five-door liftback design also provides a cargo capacity advantage, with 24.3 cubic feet of space behind the 60/40 split rear seats, expandable for larger items.
Standard safety and driver-assistive technologies include Acura’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, advanced airbag technology, front knee airbags, rear outboard side impact airbags, and the AcuraWatch™ suite of safety features.
American Manufacturing
The 2024 Integra Type S is manufactured exclusively at the Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio, sharing the production line with the Integra, Acura TLX, and TLX Type S. The K20C engine is produced at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio, which also manufactures engines for the Acura TLX Type S and MDX Type S.
