Honda Civic and Accord Shine as Car and Driver 10Best Winners for 2025

Honda has once again cemented its reputation for producing top-quality vehicles, earning more 2025 Car and Driver 10Best awards than any other brand. This marks the third consecutive year Honda has achieved this honor, with the Car and Driver editors recognizing the excellence of the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, and Honda CR-V.

With these latest accolades, Honda’s total Car and Driver 10Best trophy count rises to an impressive 95, surpassing all other brands in the award’s prestigious 40-year history. Remarkably, Honda has consistently had at least one model featured on the annual 10Best list since its inception in 1983, showcasing a long-standing commitment to automotive excellence.

Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, emphasized the dedication behind these achievements: “Winning three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the third year in a row speaks to the passion our Honda engineers and production associates pour into these products for our customers. We’re pleased that electrifying Civic, Accord and CR-V has been received so well because it is a promising sign as we head into the electrified future.”

The Honda Accord, a perennial favorite and America’s best-selling car for five decades, continues its reign as the most awarded vehicle in Car and Driver 10Best history. It secured its place on the list for an astounding 39th time, including a continuous streak of 27 years. For the Honda Civic, this is its 11th 10Best award, while the Honda CR-V celebrates its 6th win.

A significant factor in this year’s awards is the recognition of Honda’s fuel-efficient and engaging hybrid models. The Civic hybrid, Accord hybrid, and CR-V hybrid are pivotal in Honda’s electrification strategy. Currently, hybrid models constitute over 50% of Accord and CR-V sales, and are projected to make up 40% of Civic sales, highlighting consumer demand for these efficient yet dynamic vehicles. These models are powered by Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid system, lauded for maximizing fuel efficiency while maintaining dynamic performance and a comfortable driving experience.

Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, specifically praised the Civic hybrid: “The new hybrid model maintains the handling and practicality all Civics enjoy, boasts the best fuel economy numbers in the lineup, and it’s as quick as the performance-oriented Si,” highlighting the well-rounded appeal of the Car And Driver Civic.

The Rigorous Car and Driver 10Best Selection Process

For over 40 years, the Car and Driver 10Best list has been a benchmark of automotive excellence. The competition is intense, with vehicles assessed based on rigorous criteria. Eligibility includes all-new vehicles, previous year’s 10Best winners, vehicles unavailable for the prior competition, and significantly updated models. All contenders must meet a base price cap of $110,000 and be available for sale by January 31, 2024.

Car and Driver editors undertake a comprehensive two-week evaluation, driving over 80 new cars, trucks, and SUVs that meet these criteria. Each vehicle is scored out of 100, and the tallied and averaged scores determine the coveted 10Best of 2025. Two lists are released concurrently: 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs.
