Honda has once again proven its automotive excellence, securing more Car and Driver 10Best awards for 2025 than any other brand. This marks the third consecutive year Honda has achieved this feat, further cementing its position as an industry leader. The prestigious Car and Driver editors recognized the Honda Civic and Accord with coveted 10Best Cars awards, while the Honda CR-V earned a place on the 10Best Trucks and SUVs list.
With an impressive total of 95 awards, Honda surpasses all other brands in Car and Driver 10Best trophies accumulated over the award’s 40-year history. Since the inception of the 10Best list in 1983, at least one Honda model has consistently earned a spot annually, showcasing Honda’s enduring commitment to quality and innovation.
“Winning three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the third year running is a testament to the dedication of our Honda engineers and production associates who pour their passion into crafting exceptional vehicles for our customers,” stated Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales. “The positive reception of the electrified Civic, Accord, and CR-V models is particularly encouraging as we advance towards an electrified future.”
Honda Accord: A Record-Breaking Reign in Car and Driver 10Best
The Honda Accord, recognized as America’s best-selling car over the past five decades, continues its unparalleled dominance in the Car and Driver 10Best awards. It holds the record for the most awarded vehicle in the history of the awards, securing an astounding 39 wins, including an unbroken streak of 27 consecutive years on the 10Best list. The Civic adds to Honda’s accolades with its 11th 10Best award, while the CR-V boasts its 6th win.
Honda’s focus on fuel efficiency and engaging driving dynamics is evident in the Civic hybrid, Accord hybrid, and CR-V hybrid models. These vehicles represent a crucial step in Honda’s broader electrification strategy. Currently, hybrid-electric trims account for over 50% of both Accord and CR-V sales, and Civic hybrid models are projected to comprise 40% of overall Civic sales. All three models are equipped with Honda’s advanced two-motor hybrid system, a system recognized with awards for its seamless blend of efficiency, dynamic performance, and enhanced driving comfort.
Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief of Car and Driver, praised the Civic hybrid, stating, “The new hybrid model maintains the handling and practicality all Civics enjoy, boasts the best fuel economy numbers in the lineup, and it’s as quick as the performance-oriented Si.”
Understanding the Car and Driver 10Best Selection Process
For over 40 years, the Car and Driver 10Best list has stood as a benchmark of automotive excellence. The competition includes all-new vehicles, previous year’s 10Best winners, vehicles not available in the prior competition, and significantly updated models. To be eligible, vehicles must have a base price under $110,000 and be available for sale by January 31, 2024.
Car and Driver editors rigorously evaluate over 80 new cars, trucks, and SUVs over two weeks, assigning scores from zero to 100. The scores are then tallied and averaged to determine the coveted 10Best of 2025. Car and Driver simultaneously releases two lists: 10Best Cars and 10Best Trucks and SUVs, providing comprehensive recognition across vehicle categories.
