Dacia Bigster: Redefining the C-SUV Segment with Robust Design and Eco-Smart Features

Dacia, already a leading brand in Europe’s B-segment, is making a bold move into the competitive C-SUV segment with the all-new Bigster. This vehicle perfectly embodies Dacia’s core values: being essential yet cool, eco-smart, robust, and outdoor-ready. The Bigster is designed to meet the needs of C-SUV buyers who are increasingly seeking new cars that offer comfort, performance, and space without breaking the bank.

“Since Renaulution in 2021, we completely revamped the brand with the New Brand Identity: new colors, new logo, new territory, new showrooms. While remaining true to ourselves, we made Dacia more desirable and more aspirational than ever, and still best-value for money. Today with Bigster, Dacia meets more than ever C-segment customers expectations.”

Denis Le Vot, CEO Dacia

The Dacia Bigster is just the first of three new vehicles planned as part of Dacia’s strategic entry into the C-SUV market, signaling a significant expansion for the brand.

Dacia Delivers on its Promise: The Bigster Design Unveiled

The Bigster Concept, revealed in January 2021 as part of the Renaulution plan, set the stage for Dacia’s ambitions in the C-SUV segment. It was a promise of a vehicle that would elevate the Dacia brand, and the All-New Bigster lives up to the anticipation and expectations that the concept generated.

“With All-New Bigster, we have stayed true to the intentions expressed in Bigster Concept. Bigster is the ultimate expression of Dacia’s values, and is now the brand’s flagship vehicle.”

David Durand, Dacia Design Vice President

The core values of Dacia are perfectly aligned with what customers in the C-SUV segment are looking for. The design of the All-New Dacia Bigster emphasizes its robustness and versatility, catering to customers’ diverse needs for work, leisure, and family life. The Bigster’s generous dimensions are highlighted by strong, geometric shapes and clean lines that prioritize functionality and essential design. The wide wheel arches and the positioning of the lights at the vehicle’s extremities enhance its confident and grounded presence on the road.

The robust styling of the All-New Dacia Bigster is further accentuated by its upright and compact front end, a hallmark of SUV design. Staying true to Dacia’s design language, the front features a broad, gloss black grille with the signature “Dacia link” at its center. The sculpted, horizontal bonnet is designed to provide drivers with a clear and commanding view of the road ahead.

The styling of the Dacia Bigster prioritizes the essential, but without sacrificing the ‘cool’ factor that is integral to the brand’s identity and expected by C-SUV buyers. Dacia achieves this cool aesthetic in its unique way. Graphic design elements add a touch of understated elegance to the front end, doors, and the area above the rear license plate. Instead of following the trend of gloss black finishes everywhere, Dacia designers have chosen a blend of gloss and matte black, creating a finish that is both stylish and more durable and resistant to wear and tear.

The New Dacia Bigster is designed to be robust, cool, and eco-smart. The front and rear skid plates are mass-dyed, enhancing their durability and longevity. The protective elements that wrap around the vehicle’s body – along the sides, wheel arches, and lower bumpers – are constructed from Starkle®. Dacia’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the use of this material. Starkle®, developed by Dacia engineers and incorporating recycled materials, is used in its raw, unpainted form, further emphasizing the vehicle’s robust and eco-conscious nature.

True to the Dacia ethos of functionality, the All-New Bigster is designed to adapt to the preferences and lifestyles of C-SUV segment customers. The Bigster comes standard with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, with the option to upgrade to 19-inch wheels featuring a distinctive graphic design on the top-tier Journey trim. For customers selecting higher trim levels, a black roof option is available, creating a striking two-tone finish that accentuates the vehicle’s design lines – a first for Dacia, adding a touch of premium customization.

A new and exclusive body color, Indigo Blue, is also introduced with the Bigster. This metallic shade adds a touch of sophistication and presence, while remaining consistent with Dacia’s ethos of simple yet stylish design.

David Durand further explains, “In terms of interior design, we wanted to underline one of All-New Bigster’s major assets: its exceptional interior space. We’ve gone for simplicity, with geometric lines that echo those of the exterior, while delivering the quality expected by customers in the C-SUV segment.”

Inside the All-New Dacia Bigster, the design focus is squarely on the essentials: space, ergonomics, and comfort. The vertically oriented, high-mounted dashboard maximizes the feeling of spaciousness for front passengers.

For simplicity and ease of use, driving information is consolidated on either a 7’’ or 10’’ digital instrument panel, depending on the trim level. Multimedia system information is displayed on a 10.1’’ central touchscreen, which is standard across all Bigster models. A sleek green line visually connects the two screens, integrating them seamlessly into the dashboard design.

Depending on the chosen trim level, the All-New Dacia Bigster offers three types of front center consoles: low, intermediate, or – a first for Dacia – a high console featuring an armrest with a cooler compartment, an induction charger, and ample storage space. This highlights Dacia’s commitment to enhancing comfort and convenience for drivers and passengers alike.

Special attention has been given to the seating upholstery in the Bigster. Depending on the trim level, the focus varies from simplicity and visual appeal in the Bigster Essential and Expression trims, to durability and easy cleaning for the Extreme trim, and enhanced comfort for the Journey trim, catering to a wide range of customer needs and preferences.

Finally, the Dacia ‘Y’ signature design element serves as a unifying link between the interior and exterior of the Bigster:

  • Inside the cabin, the ‘Y’ shape is featured on the air vents (in Copper Brown on the Extreme finish) and subtly integrated into the door handle trim.
  • On the exterior, the distinctive ‘Y’-shaped light signature is prominent in the front headlights and echoed in the LED rear lights, reinforcing the Dacia brand identity.

The Dacia Bigster is poised to make a significant impact in the C-SUV segment by offering a vehicle that is not only robust and spacious but also intelligently designed with eco-conscious materials and a focus on essential features that truly matter to drivers. Dacia continues to deliver on its promise of providing exceptional value without compromising on style or functionality.
