Cars Discontinued in 2025: Farewell to These Automotive Models

As we approach the new year, the automotive landscape is already populated with most of the 2025 model year vehicles. However, this transition also signifies the end of the road for a significant number of cars, trucks, and SUVs that will not be returning for the new model year. For many of these Discontinued Cars, the end has been anticipated, marking shifts in manufacturer strategy, market trends, or the natural lifecycle of vehicle models.

Several factors contribute to these automotive departures. Jaguar is undergoing a significant transformation, phasing out its entire current lineup to pave the way for an all-electric future. Nissan, under new leadership, is streamlining its offerings by discontinuing models that haven’t resonated strongly with consumers. Maserati is also bidding farewell to some of its older luxury vehicles as it looks to refresh its portfolio.

Conversely, some of these discontinued cars will be genuinely missed by enthusiasts and the automotive community. The Nissan GT-R, an icon of performance, is finally concluding its impressive run in the US market. Ram has already moved on from the powerful TRX, and the groundbreaking Bugatti Chiron makes way for its successor, the Tourbillon. These departures mark the end of significant chapters in automotive history.

Here’s a detailed look at the cars discontinued in 2025:

This move reflects the brand's shift towards electrification while keeping the door open for performance-oriented models in the future.

Instead, BMW is expected to concentrate on electric performance SUVs, potentially with an all-electric iX3 M. This shift aligns with a 2022 report suggesting the next X3 performance model would be electric only, signaling BMW’s direction in performance SUVs.

Bugatti Discontinued Models

Bugatti Chiron

With the introduction of the Bugatti Tourbillon, production of the iconic Chiron has ended. The Chiron enjoyed an impressive eight-year run, spawning numerous special editions and briefly holding the world record for top speed at 304.8 mph. The Chiron, with its remarkable W-16 engine, will be remembered as a pinnacle of hypercar engineering and performance, marking the end of an era for Bugatti's gasoline-powered hypercars.

While production has ceased, new 2024 Camaros may still be available at dealerships, representing the last chance to purchase a new gasoline Camaro.

Chevrolet Malibu

The Chevrolet Malibu, a sedan with a long history, is also among the discontinued cars. Production of the ninth-generation Malibu, which has been in the market for nearly nine years, officially ended in November. Its discontinuation is part of Ferrari’s ongoing model refresh cycle.

The Ferrari Roma Coupe was also discontinued in the second quarter of 2024, alongside the 812 GTS. However, the Ferrari Roma Spider convertible variant remains available. Its discontinuation is part of Jaguar’s broader exit from the traditional sedan market.

Jaguar XF

Jaguar’s larger sedan, the XF, is also among the discontinued cars, ending production in mid-2024. Like the rest of the Jaguar lineup, the XF is a casualty of the brand’s pivot to electric vehicles. This change may disappoint purists who prefer manual transmissions for off-roading, but reflects broader trends in transmission preferences and manufacturing efficiency.

Lamborghini Discontinued Models

Lamborghini Huracan

The discontinuation signals Maserati’s move to modernize its lineup and embrace new powertrain technologies.

Maserati Levante

Maserati is streamlining its lineup to focus on models like the MC20 sports car, Grecale SUV, and GranTurismo. This strategy leads to the discontinuation of the Levante SUV, despite being one of Maserati's best-selling models. Production of the Levante officially ended in March 2024, as Maserati prioritizes newer models and potentially shifts focus within the SUV segment.

Maserati Quattroporte

Mitsubishi Discontinued Models

Mitsubishi Mirage

Both hatchback and sedan versions of the Mitsubishi Mirage are reportedly being discontinued at the end of 2024. Its departure reflects changing consumer expectations and market demands for more refined and capable vehicles, even in the budget segment.

Nissan is commemorating its departure with special Skyline Edition and Takumi Edition trims, honoring the GT-R's heritage. The Nissan Titan pickup truck is another long-standing Nissan model being discontinued for 2025. Despite the popularity of trucks in the US market, the Titan has struggled in sales compared to competitors, leading to its discontinuation. Nissan sold fewer than 20,000 Titans in 2023, making its exit a strategic decision in a highly competitive truck segment.

Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman (In Europe)

Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman models are being discontinued in Europe due to failing to meet the European Union's General Safety Regulation, particularly cybersecurity requirements. Ram 1500 TRX

The high-performance Ram 1500 TRX is discontinued, with the new Ram 1500 RHO serving as its replacement, albeit with a different engine and performance profile. Toyota Venza
