Lexus Achieves Record Sales in 2024 Driven by Electrified Lineup

PLANO, Texas (Jan. 3, 2025) – Lexus has officially announced its best-ever full-year sales results in its 35-year history, marking a significant milestone for the luxury automotive brand. The stellar performance in 2024 was largely fueled by a surge in demand for its electrified vehicle options, demonstrating Lexus’s successful strategy in catering to evolving consumer preferences and a growing market for environmentally conscious vehicles.

Lexus reported a remarkable 34.4 percent increase in electrified vehicle sales compared to the previous year, with a total of 123,035 electrified units sold in 2024. This impressive figure means that electrified models now constitute over 35 percent of Lexus’s total sales volume, a clear indication of the brand’s commitment to and success in the electric vehicle market. This achievement positions Lexus as a leader in the luxury electrified vehicle segment, offering customers a compelling blend of performance, luxury, and sustainability.

Lexus’s Electrified Models Lead the Charge

The Lexus division’s success in 2024 can be attributed significantly to its diverse and popular range of electrified vehicles. Consumers are increasingly drawn to Lexus’s hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) for their fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and refined driving experience. The availability of multiple electrified options across key Lexus models has broadened the brand’s appeal and attracted a wider customer base seeking luxury vehicles with advanced powertrain technology.

Several Lexus models experienced outstanding growth in their electrified variants. The ES HEV saw a substantial 45.8 percent sales increase, highlighting the strong demand for hybrid luxury sedans. Similarly, the NX HEV and NX PHEV models witnessed impressive growth rates of 26.6 percent and 19.7 percent respectively, demonstrating the popularity of Lexus’s electrified luxury SUVs. The RX HEV also contributed significantly with a 30.1 percent increase, while the RX PHEV experienced an extraordinary surge of 547.6 percent, albeit from a smaller base. The all-electric RZ model also contributed to the electrified sales volume with an 80 percent increase, indicating growing interest in Lexus’s fully electric offerings.

Top Performing Lexus Models in 2024

Beyond electrified vehicles, several core Lexus models continued to perform exceptionally well in 2024, contributing to the brand’s overall record sales. The RX, a cornerstone of the Lexus SUV lineup, is projected to retain its position as the top-selling mid-luxury SUV for the 26th consecutive year. This consistent dominance underscores the RX’s enduring appeal and strong market presence.

In addition to the RX, other Lexus models also demonstrated solid performance. Total Lexus LUV (Luxury Utility Vehicle) sales increased by 10 percent, reflecting the continued consumer preference for SUVs and crossovers in the luxury segment. The ES sedan also saw a healthy 10.3 percent increase in total sales, with the ES HEV variant playing a significant role in this growth. The TX model, including its HEV version, also showed substantial growth, indicating positive market reception for Lexus’s newer offerings.

Looking Ahead for Lexus

The record-breaking sales year of 2024 sets a strong foundation for Lexus moving forward. With a robust lineup of electrified vehicles and continued strength in its core models, Lexus is well-positioned to maintain its growth trajectory in the competitive luxury automotive market. As Toyota Motor North America prepares to introduce approximately 24 all-new, refreshed, or special edition Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2025, Lexus is expected to further expand its offerings and potentially build upon the successes of 2024. The ongoing investment in electrification and customer-centric digital retail platforms like Monogram further underscores Lexus’s commitment to innovation and providing a premium ownership experience. Lexus’s 2024 performance not only celebrates its 35-year history but also signals a bright future for the brand in the evolving automotive landscape.
