Welcome to Southwest Minnesota State University! Are you ready to join the Mustang Family? This special visit day is designed to guide you through everything you need to know as a New Mustang at SMSU. Get ready to meet future classmates, register for your fall classes, and connect with faculty from your chosen academic department.
The day kicks off with check-in at 10:45 AM, leading into a welcome session at 11:10 AM with Jeremy Reed, Executive Director of Enrollment, and Charlotte Wahle, Director of Admission. They will officially welcome you to SMSU and provide an overview of your exciting day.
Following the welcome, at 11:25 AM, learn about earning your degree with Kaitlyn Giles. At 11:45 AM, don’t miss the Mustang Meetup with Admission Counselor Cedric Williams – a great opportunity to connect with current SMSU representatives and other new Mustangs like yourself. Lunch will be served at 12:35 PM to keep you energized.
In the afternoon, at 1:10 PM, Taylor McKittrick, Admission Counselor, and Megan Laughlin, Admission Graduate Assistant, will host a Housing and Residence Life Q&A session to answer all your questions about on-campus living as a new Mustang. “Web Survival” follows at 2:00 PM, preparing you for online resources at SMSU. Finally, at 2:30 PM, you’ll have the essential Registration with Advisors session to officially enroll in your fall classes. The program concludes around 3:30 PM after you have completed registration.
What to Expect as a New Mustang:
This visit day is packed with opportunities to fully immerse yourself in the new Mustang experience. You will:
- Meet and connect with fellow incoming classmates, starting your SMSU network.
- Complete your registration for fall semester classes with guidance from academic advisors.
- Meet faculty members from your academic department, gaining insights into your chosen field of study.
