Red Bull RB17: Adrian Newey’s F1 Expertise Unleashed in a Hypercar

Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the engineering powerhouse behind Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 success, has officially announced its groundbreaking first hypercar project: the Rb17. This two-seat marvel, conceived and engineered entirely in-house under the guidance of the legendary Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer, is set to redefine track performance for enthusiasts and collectors alike. Production of the strictly limited edition RB17, capped at just 50 units, will commence in 2025 at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes, marking a significant expansion for the Red Bull brand beyond the racetrack.

Christian Horner, CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Advanced Technologies, emphasized the RB17’s importance: “The RB17 is a pivotal moment for Red Bull Advanced Technologies. It demonstrates our capability to not only design but also manufacture a production vehicle within our state-of-the-art Milton Keynes facility. More than that, it’s a historic occasion as the RB17 becomes the very first Red Bull branded car available to private owners.”

Adrian Newey himself highlighted the performance DNA embedded in the RB17: “The RB17 embodies the culmination of our extensive knowledge in creating championship-winning Formula One cars. We’ve distilled that expertise into a hypercar that delivers unparalleled levels of performance for a two-seat, track-focused machine. Driven by an unwavering passion for pushing boundaries, the RB17 takes design and technical innovation to levels previously unattainable for enthusiasts and collectors.”

While full technical specifications are eagerly awaited, Red Bull has confirmed that the RB17 will be powered by a hybrid engine generating over 1,100bhp. The name and inspiration are directly drawn from Red Bull Racing’s formidable Formula 1 cars, signifying a clear lineage of high-performance engineering. Built around a robust carbon-composite tub, the RB17 will also feature an advanced ground effect package, a technology honed in the demanding world of Formula 1, promising exceptional downforce and handling characteristics rarely seen in production cars. Detailed technical disclosures are expected to follow, building anticipation for this groundbreaking hypercar.

The ownership experience of the RB17 is designed to be as exclusive as the car itself. The 50 fortunate owners will not just acquire a hypercar; they will gain privileged access to the Red Bull Racing team. This includes access to cutting-edge simulators, involvement in vehicle program development, and bespoke on-track training and driving experiences, creating a deep connection with the Red Bull Racing world. Factory-direct support will ensure that each RB17 is meticulously maintained, with servicing and maintenance programs tailored to the specific needs and usage patterns of each owner.
