P.S. As I reveal some of the best Instagrammable spots around Lake Tahoe for your Tahoe pics, I kindly ask that you join me in preserving Tahoe’s beauty by embracing the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace. Let’s keep this paradise pristine.

Alright, let’s dive into the best spots for Tahoe pics

1. Flume Trail & Monkey Rock: Iconic Tahoe Pics

Monkey Rock, nestled along the Flume Trail, is a prime location for capturing memorable Tahoe pics. While the monkey-shaped rock itself is a fun attraction for photos, the true draw for me is the breathtaking 180-degree panoramic views. I especially love the southward-facing vistas and the naturally formed rock chair, both offering unique perspectives for your Tahoe pics.

The hike to Monkey Rock is a manageable 2.6-mile round trip, considered relatively easy for most fitness levels. There is a moderately steep section, but it’s short-lived. Just take your time and enjoy the scenery if you need to catch your breath. You can find the trailhead to Monkey Rock conveniently located behind Tunnel Creek Cafe in Incline Village. This spot is perfect for capturing those wide, expansive Tahoe pics.

2. Bonsai Rock: Unique Tahoe Pics from the East Shore

Bonsai Rock, situated on Lake Tahoe’s east shore, is another fantastic spot for capturing incredible Tahoe pics, especially during the golden hour of sunset. I’m also a big fan of taking drone shots in this area, particularly during the day when the turquoise water is at its most vibrant. If you’re visiting in the summer, you might even get lucky and capture an action-packed shot of someone cliff jumping – perfect for dynamic Tahoe pics! The unique tree formations on the rock itself add a distinctive element to your Tahoe pics.

3. Secret Cove: Turquoise Waters for Stunning Tahoe Pics

Secret Cove is without a doubt my absolute favorite location for capturing Tahoe pics! Many of the images you see on my Instagram are taken right here. The unbelievably turquoise water at Secret Cove genuinely blows my mind every time I visit. For the best experience and less crowded Tahoe pics, I recommend photographing Secret Cove during the off-season, as it gets extremely busy in the summer, especially on weekends. Arrive early to secure the best spots for your Tahoe pics.

A friendly reminder: when visiting Secret Cove or any of these beautiful locations for your Tahoe pics, please be respectful of the environment. Pack out all your trash and remember to leave no trace.

4. Rubicon Trail & D.L. Bliss State Park: Scenic Hiking for Tahoe Pics

The Rubicon Trail is truly one of the most stunning trails in Lake Tahoe, making it an exceptional location for taking incredible Tahoe pics! Connecting D.L. Bliss State Park and Emerald Bay State Park, the trail offers jaw-dropping views every step of the way. You’ll find yourself wanting to stop every few minutes to capture the breathtaking scenery with your Tahoe pics. The diverse landscapes along the trail ensure a variety of Tahoe pics.

You can access the Rubicon Trail from either Emerald Bay State Park via the Vikingsholm Trail or from within D.L. Bliss State Park. The full out-and-back trail is approximately 7.5 miles. Whether you’re after wide landscapes or intimate details, the Rubicon Trail is rich with Tahoe pics opportunities.

5. Bayview Trail Overlook: Easy Hike for Emerald Bay Tahoe Pics

Located just off HWY 89, the Bayview Trail offers a rewarding experience for capturing stunning Tahoe pics. The trail features a beautiful alpine lake, expansive views of Lake Tahoe from Maggie’s Peak, and a lovely vista of Emerald Bay near the trailhead. The Emerald Bay overlook is one of my favorite spots for Tahoe pics because it’s a short hike to reach incredible, unobstructed views. Plus, there’s a perfectly positioned rock ideal for sitting or standing to soak in the scenery and capture your Tahoe pics.

You can conclude your hike at the overlook or continue towards Granite Lake and Maggie’s Peak for even more amazing photo opportunities and diverse Tahoe pics.

6. Emerald Bay: Iconic and Classic Tahoe Pics

Emerald Bay is arguably the most photographed location in Lake Tahoe, and for very good reason – it offers some of the most breathtaking views of the entire lake. No matter how often I visit Emerald Bay, I am always excited to photograph it! My favorite times for capturing Tahoe pics at Emerald Bay are during sunrise and sunset, especially on calm days with minimal wind. The tranquil reflections enhance your Tahoe pics dramatically.

After enjoying the views from the overlook, you can hike down the Vikingsholm Trail to the base of Emerald Bay. There, you can explore Vikingsholm Castle, connect to the Rubicon Trail, or hike to Lower Eagle Falls, providing even more diverse Tahoe pics.

Keep in mind that Emerald Bay is one of the busiest spots in Lake Tahoe, particularly on weekends. Visiting during the week is highly recommended, as parking can be challenging on weekends. Planning ahead will help you secure the best Tahoe pics without the crowds.

7. Cave Rock: Panoramic South Lake Tahoe Pics

Located off HWY 50 near South Lake Tahoe, the hike to Cave Rock is short, easy, and enjoyable year-round. The summit of Cave Rock provides stunning 180-degree views over South Lake Tahoe, making it a fantastic location for capturing wide, scenic Tahoe pics. Sunset is my preferred time to photograph Cave Rock, but I’ve captured great Tahoe pics here at any time of day. For a quieter experience, consider visiting in the afternoon rather than at sunset, and you might even have Cave Rock all to yourself, at least for a little while, perfect for uninterrupted Tahoe pics.

8. Fallen Leaf Lake: Alpine Lake Tahoe Pics with Mt. Tallac Views

Lake Tahoe is surrounded by numerous picturesque alpine lakes, and Fallen Leaf Lake is definitely one of my favorites for capturing serene Tahoe pics. Fallen Leaf Lake is especially photogenic because it offers some of the best views of the imposing Mt. Tallac. From here, Mt. Tallac appears truly massive. It’s also very easily accessible. The flat, easy walk is just about 10 minutes from Fallen Leaf Lake Road off HWY 89, making it a convenient spot for capturing beautiful Tahoe pics without a strenuous hike.

9. Valhalla Pier: Sunrise Tahoe Pics with Historic Charm

Located off HWY 89 in South Lake Tahoe, Valhalla is home to one of the few public piers in South Lake Tahoe. Most piers around the lake are privately owned. My favorite time to photograph Valhalla Pier for stunning Tahoe pics is at sunrise. The soft morning light and calm water create magical conditions for your Tahoe pics. If you’re visiting during sunset, make sure to walk south towards Camp Richardson, which is just a short walk away, and enjoy dinner and drinks at The Beacon Bar & Grill. The pier itself and the historic boathouse offer charming subjects for your Tahoe pics.

10. Zephyr Cove: Sunset Tahoe Pics with Mountain Views

Located off HWY 50 near South Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove is one of my favorite go-to spots for photographing the sunset in Lake Tahoe and capturing vibrant Tahoe pics. One of the things I love most about Zephyr Cove is how close and prominent the mountains appear from the shoreline. Plus, enjoying the views at Zephyr Cove requires no hiking at all. Simply park your car along HWY 50 and take a short walk down to the water. This accessibility makes it perfect for capturing spontaneous Tahoe pics. The beach logs also add foreground interest to your Tahoe pics.
