Volvo Cars has unveiled the latest addition to its lineup, the new Cross Country version of the V60, expanding their range of brand-new Volvo vehicles. This robust V60 Cross Country builds upon Volvo’s transformation in recent years, embodying the essence of a versatile Swedish family crossover.
Echoing its V60 sibling, which debuted earlier this year, the V60 Cross Country represents the adaptable Swedish family vehicle, now enhanced with capabilities for both on-road and off-road adventures. This expansion of functionality is a hallmark of Volvo’s Cross Country range since its inception in 1997, seamlessly transitioning the V60 from suburban streets to the Swedish forests, or ‘skogen’.
Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, stated, “With the new V60 Cross Country, we take our Swedish family estate from one natural habitat to another. We invented the Cross Country segment over 20 years ago, and with this car, we reinforce our long-standing pedigree in safe, capable, and versatile family cars.” This new model, the V60 Volvo Cross Country, continues this tradition.
The V60 Cross Country boasts a ground clearance increased by up to 75mm compared to the standard V60. This enhancement is achieved through a specially engineered Cross Country chassis and suspension, significantly improving the car’s off-road prowess. The new V60 Cross Country comes standard with all-wheel-drive, ensuring confident traction in various conditions. Additional standard features that bolster its capability include Hill Descent Control for controlled descents on steep slopes, Electronic Stability Control for maintaining composure, Corner Traction Control for enhanced handling in curves, and a dedicated Off-Road driving mode optimized for more challenging terrains.
Like its counterparts in the 60 and 90 Series, the new v60 volvo Cross Country benefits from Volvo Cars’ acclaimed Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. This advanced platform underpins the vehicle’s sophisticated safety technologies and cutting-edge infotainment system, ensuring a premium and secure driving experience.
Reflecting modern consumer preferences, the new V60 Cross Country is also available through Care by Volvo, Volvo Cars’ premium subscription service. This innovative service offers access to the vehicle via a convenient monthly flat-fee subscription, presenting an alternative to traditional car ownership.
Henrik Green, senior vice president of research and development at Volvo Cars, emphasized the refined nature of the vehicle, stating, “The V60 Cross Country is every bit as refined as the other 60 and 90 Series cars based on our SPA platform. The Pilot Assist system provides driver support with steering, acceleration, and braking assistance on well-marked roads at speeds up to 80 mph. For even greater peace of mind, the optional Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake is available.
