Aston Martin Valkyrie: Unveiling the Hybrid Hypercar Performance

Aston Martin has officially released the highly anticipated performance figures for the Aston Martin Valkyrie, confirming its status as a groundbreaking hypercar. The Valkyrie’s hybrid powertrain showcases a maximum power output of 1,160bhp at a staggering 10,500rpm, alongside a peak combined torque of 900Nm at 6,000rpm. These figures solidify the Valkyrie Aston Martin as a pinnacle of automotive engineering and performance.

At the heart of the Valkyrie lies a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine, meticulously crafted by Cosworth. This engine alone delivers an astonishing 1,000bhp at 10,500rpm and 740Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Drawing inspiration from the high-revving Formula 1 engines of the 1990s, this V12 benefits from modern advancements in design, materials, and manufacturing. It sets new benchmarks for RPM and weight in a road-legal vehicle, achieving a world-first for a naturally-aspirated, emissions-compliant car.

Complementing this formidable V12 is a bespoke battery-electric system developed in collaboration with Rimac and Integral Powertrain Ltd. This hybrid system contributes an additional 160bhp and 280Nm of torque, seamlessly boosting the Valkyrie’s overall performance. The integration of this system, akin to a KERS system found in Formula 1 cars, exemplifies the cutting-edge technology embedded within the Valkyrie Aston Martin.

The innovative engineering extends beyond just power output. The Valkyrie’s design ethos, influenced by Red Bull Advanced Technologies’ Formula One DNA, means components often serve multiple roles. For instance, both the V12 engine and gearbox casing act as stressed members of the vehicle’s structure, enhancing rigidity and eliminating unnecessary weight. The battery pack not only powers the electric motor but also houses the vehicle’s power electronics.

David King, Vice President & Special Vehicle Operations Officer, emphasized the Valkyrie’s groundbreaking nature: “Aston Martin Valkyrie is set to be the ultimate hypercar in the automotive world and these performance figures underline that statement.” He further acknowledged the crucial partnerships with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, Cosworth, Rimac, and Integral Powertrain Ltd., highlighting their role in creating an emissions-compliant hybrid system ready for prototype integration.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie represents the pinnacle of hypercar engineering, blending a high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 engine with a state-of-the-art hybrid system. With development ongoing in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies and AF Racing, the Valkyrie Aston Martin is poised to redefine hypercar performance and deliver an unparalleled driving experience.
