“The challenge for designers has always been to elevate the perception of the van, making it more desirable and exciting — something drivers aspire to own, rather than simply need,” explains Kevin Hunter, president of CALTY Design Research (CALTY). “Consequently, the latest Sienna boasts a more dynamic and appealing aesthetic, while retaining all the spaciousness and practicality inherent in a van.”
The Adventure-Ready Toyota Van
Since its inception, the Toyota Sienna van has seen continuous enhancements to both its interior and exterior, broadening its usability for a more diverse set of activities and lifestyles beyond the typical family van duties. A significant upgrade is the availability of all-wheel drive (AWD) across all trims. This feature has been instrumental in boosting the adventurous spirit of this Toyota van, empowering drivers to confidently navigate a wider range of terrains and conditions.

“As customer preferences and requirements have evolved over the years, so too has the Sienna. CALTY’s ongoing objective has been to craft a van that is more inspiring and enjoyable,” Hunter adds. “Today’s younger families are active and increasingly seek outdoor recreational activities with their loved ones. We aimed to capture and reflect that youthful enthusiasm in the Sienna’s design and capabilities.”
Further enhancing its adventure credentials, this Toyota van offers features such as an available 1,500-watt inverter. This is incredibly useful for camping trips and outdoor adventures, enabling users to power various devices while on the move. Moreover, with an available tow hitch capable of pulling up to 3,500 pounds, and optional roof racks, the Sienna is equally adept at long-distance journeys and everyday urban driving.
The most recent Sienna models also embody this adventurous character through their SUV-inspired styling, particularly evident in the sporty Sienna XSE trim. This design direction further solidifies the Sienna’s position as a versatile and appealing Toyota van for modern lifestyles.
